As families jet off for their summer holidays, opening a new credit card is unlikely to top their list of priorities.
But using the wrong card abroad can leave holidaymakers seriously out of pocket. Many banks apply hefty fees to those using their ordinary debt or credit card abroad, with some charging as much as £5 per transaction.
